Dogs Life

Hi,

Myself and my best friend (Brianna Smale) have been talking about volunteering at the local shelter during the school holiday. Has anyone done this before. If so how did you find it.

Thanks

I have never done anything like this, but now that I no longer work and family are moving

interstate, I have been trying to think of something I could volunteer my time to that would

be meaningful and make a difference in some animals lives,

so I would love to hear from other folk that have had some experience with this, thanks.

Yes megan and I are looking forward to helping at our local animal shelter as we are helping there some time next year.

I have volunteered at a number of animal shelters.

Most will have a minimum age limit of 16 or so- particularly if you want to work with the animals.

Many people don't want to volunteer because they think it's sad seeing all the pets in cages, but I never had a problem with it because you also get to see them being reunited with their owners & finding loving new homes :)

The work can be tough, as most of it involves cleaning- but it is great when you get to play with the pets :)

oh that sucks as megan and I are 14 years old. Do you recon we could still volonter?

Brianna I don't they really want us to volunteer :( They seem pretty strict on age on the website. Its because they don't have a working with children license

Oh thats a shame at least we both are going to the zoo programe in January as it really fun, I would love to be a zoo keeper for a day, I hope I see a gorilla. See you then, or soon by.
