Brianna Smale commented on Marty Cord's blog post The biggest walk yetThis is my four legged baby girl Lightning. She has just turned 6 years of age and i got her just after finding out i would never be a biological father to children of my own. I had a pure bred Rotty at the time and decided he needed a playmate. I saw an add at the local pet food supplier (no super market food for my dogs) and gave them a call. Seems there were 12 puppies in the litter and the mother of the pups had complications giving birth and she was never able to teat feed them. Her condition declined until she had to be put down 2 and a half weeks after giving birth to the pups. So we had two woman (breeders) on welfare payments spending $250 per week to keep 12 pups alive. Lightning was on 2 - 3 hourly feeds when i first saw her and fell in love immediately. The pups were $150 each and i happily handed over $300. when asked why i was paying that much i said it was for a weeks worth of food and a slab of beer. they deserved it. I started calling in every night on my way home from work and seeing her. i gave her a bottle at 4 pm, 6 pm 8pm and 10 pm. then headed for home. She was pure black with a perfect white lightning bolt on her chest. therefore the name Lightning stuck. I organized holidays when she was 4 and a half weeks old and on 4 - 6 hourly feeds. i brought my baby home and we hardly spent a day apart for the next 4 and a half years. Where i went she went if dogs weren't allowed i didn't go there. Now i have met the perfect woman and we are engaged. Unfortunately we are living in NSW and the landlords of the house we are renting won't let us have Lightning with us. We are looking to move as soon as we have the money but at the end of last year i was forced onto D.S.P and our financial position is horrible. Lightning is stuck in Melbourne being looked after by a close family friend and i am 13 hours north on the central coast missing her like crazy. 8th of May this year she turned 6 and it's the first birthday i have missed. If you love dogs you know what I'm feeling and hopefully soon we can be reunited

Well Luna had her Ear check up today and the good news is all the bacterior is gone, dead, so long never to bee seen again!! Whooo HOOOO party time
But that does not mean she is in the clear yet......
It seems now its all clear there is a chance it may come back until her imunne system starts fighting it on her own. therefore The vet suggested i clean her ears with the rinse every 2 or three days until she is about 4 or five months old then her imunne system should be strong…

I've been looking for a car for the last few weeks. It must meet a certain criterior that suits Luna and me. With my back and hips as bad as they are it has to be higher than a normal family car, it had to be fuel eficient, Two seats, Enclosed back and comfort for Luna most important and the ability to create big air flow in summer would be a plus. The one car i found that ticked all those boxes is a Suzuki Vitara and i found one in my price range.
I went and…

I've been doing Luna's meds exactly as required for the last 10 days. It is now time to return to the vet to see how my little girl is doing. She is also going to get her microchipping done and her 12 week vaxination.
I had to be there at 10 am and with no car available i had no choice but to walk. Everyone said i was crazy and i knew Luna wasn't ready for the distance we had to travel but i had to know how her ears were doing and i wasn't prepared to rebook so…

OK i got this walking thing undercontrol now. I know Alaskan Malamutes need lots of exercise so i went looking in my app store and found a pedometer app. so now i can tell you all just how much i walk Luna and keep a record.
My goal is to be doing 2 mile (or roughly 5KM) per day with her. i won't be able to run it due to my health and i know this goal won't happen until she is about 12 months old but we all have to start somewhere so todays walk stats…
